Ritual

RITUAL – We not only nurture our sacred relationships through ritual, but we are nurtured by them as well. In ritual, we move, and we are moved.

Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th May at 7.30pm
The Church Hill Theatre, Edinburgh

Derived from the Latin word Ritualis which in its simplest form means a sequence of activities involving gestures, words and objects. Usually performed in a sequestered place and according to set sequence. Rituals are characterized but not defined by formalism, traditionalism, invariance, sacral symbolism and performance.

Through dance we explore the cultural, habitual, social and spiritual rituals that have shaped humankind and the ones that continue to define our world today.

“The human soul can always use a new ritual. Sometimes we require them.” Pat Conroy, The Lords of Discipline
